Playing Stupid Vs. Plain Stupid
Politics is not the only thing with which you have a choice
W.G.H
One of the main characteristics of a democracy is of course, individual choice. The freedom of speech, the right to vote. You can decide which business you frequent and which party you vote for. You can also decide which voice you empower and which you don’t.
I don’t mind being challenged by an honest argument, that conflicts with my views. I don’t mind facing an intelligent attempt to interpret reality in a different way to mine. I totally understand that some people, view things differently and that’s just fine. I even do my best to listen carefully, when someone presents a reasonable argument to the contrary. I find value in an honest opinion market.
Example: I listen to the Triggernometry podcast regularly, and on more than one occasion, I find myself disagreeing with the argument being made (Though I still agree with more than I don’t). I still think that Konstantin and Francis make an honest attempt to think about what they say, and to make their case intelligently.
I have an issue, not with these people but with the legion of people who’re either playing stupid, or are just plain stupid. Let me rephrase that, I don’t actually have an issue with these people. I simply wonder, how can these people prosper online as they do.
All of these people sound absolutely stupid. When I say stupid, I mean literal moronic, unintelligent, or as President Trump says - Low IQ people who aren’t capable of having a single coherent independent thought, without pulling a muscle.
They make outlandish claims, ridiculous arguments and spin preposterous theories that make no sense whatsoever. They sit in front of cameras, straight faced (for the most part) and unsarcastically spew absolute garbage. Steaming piles that can be debunked with the same effort it takes to swat a fly.
Some of these people are people who I believe are actually, secretly intelligent and are playing stupid. The others are just plain stupid.
We’ve talked about the people who I consider playing stupid here before. You have Tucker and Candace, and along came Megyn. They’re representative of those about whom we have proof of intelligent life. We know that Tucker could make sense, if he chose to. We know Candace could make an actual moral argument, if she chose to. We know Megyn could take an honest stand, if she chose to.
Yet, these three and a few others from that camp, knowingly, consciously, with careful planning and cold calculation, choose to regurgitate bile, venom and some really devious and immoral trash.
They spend hours on their shows making those ridiculous arguments I mentioned above, and that’s what disappointed people like me so. We know that they know what they’re saying is stupid. So why are they saying it?
The reason is of course - the clicks. The money. The popularity.
We’ve spent enough time on these folks. Let’s talk about people who seem to be genuinely stupid.
Let’s start with Theo Von. You know. People who “don’t know much about the issue, you know.” people who “know, you know… the basics of the issue… you know… seen photos of… you know… people in Gaza” and immediately spread the genocide libel because “you know… I’ve seen some photos…”
People who say “All of our f****** money goes to Israel and they’re using it to f****** genocide people.”
Now, I’m not surprised about Von. I have seen him in a picture with Russel Brand and their apparent friend, publicly Hitler lover, Brice Mitchell. What the hell is going on in the horseshoe right?…
Jeremy Boreing summed Von’s stupidity up nicely in this video, so I’ll leave it to him:
Boreing started the video by mentioning another really stupid feller, Dave Smith. AKA the “I’m just a comedian” political analyst. The guy who’d spend an hour talking absolute nonsense, contradicting reality on every turn, and when challenged about any basic aspect of his so-called argument, would say, “Hey, I’m just a comedian.”
While we’re on the topic of stupid Dave Smith, he incidentally was a guest in the Joe Rogan podcast episode that finally made me make my mind up about Rogan himself. I will still give Rogan props for listening to everyone and anyone. That much hasn’t changed. But I realized that Rogan isn’t exactly an honest intellectual.
No. He’ll host a leftist nutcase and let her spew antisemitic slander uninterrupted, but when he hosts a guy like Douglas Murray, he’s going to have to have Idiot in chief, Dave Smith along, to help sabotage any chance of touching truth.
This is Rogan, who has firm opinions about Jews, Israel, who hums knowingly while said antisemite spreads her lies. The same Rogan who thought there were a Billion Jews in the world, until Prof. Gad Saad explained to him that he’s ever so slightly off.
Now these people, and the list is sadly much longer, have tens of millions of subscribers. They are getting rich off of their content.
Which ones are worse? the playing stupid, or the plain stupid? On the one hand, the plain stupid don’t seem to have a choice, while the one playing stupid are conniving, devious people. That would indicate that the they are worse. On the other hand, we - who know they are not really that stupid - if we feed into the plain stupid, are we not making these plain stupid people worse?
Not sure I have a definite answer to that question.
I don’t mind that they make money, and I am not calling to “de-platform” them. I’m merely suggesting that we exercise our free will to make good choices. Do we want to rot our brains? and do we want to finance those who rot them? are WE stupid? I hope not.
